EU Cookie Privacy Law

EU Cookie privacy regulations and UK law requires that websites obtain consent in order to place cookies on a user’s web browser.

The UK ICO says that “implied consent” is sufficient to comply with this law in the UK. This means that having a clearly visible privacy policy on your website should be sufficient to comply with the law.

It will be some time before we find out how this actually shakes out in practice. in the meantime, we would advise all website operators to take steps to ensure that their users are informed about use of cookies on their website and how those cookies are used, by providing an appropriate privacy policy..
